The Book of Wisdom Chapter 1

The Book of Wisdom

Chapter 1

1. Love righteousness, you rulers of the earth, think of the Lord in goodness and seek him with sincerity of heart; 2. because he is found by those who do not put him to the test, and manifests himself to those who do not distrust him.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God my Father in order to help us have the right attitude in order to welcome You in our hearts and be a dwelling place for You, we are to be in close relationship with You and not seek You only when tribulations persist as in times of testing. If we show distrust in You, my God and Father we cannot expect to see extraordinary or simple miracles or changes to take place in our life. Therefore we are to learn to open our hearts and place our total trust and confidence in You, who then teaches us to also love and place our confidence in the self that You have given us which is your own self that is ready to dwell in us if the opportunity is present Amen.

3.For perverse thoughts separate people from God, and when his power is tested it exposes the foolish; 4. because wisdom will not enter a deceitful soul, or dwell in a body enslaved to sin.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God my Father, I pray that my mind will always be focused on You and not be alienated by the ways of the world, that act as barriers that keep us away from each other. Amen.

5. For a holy and disciplined spirit will flee from deceit, and will leave foolish thoughts behind, and will be ashamed at the approach of unrighteousness.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verse 5)

Oh God my Father, the more we grow in our relationship with You, the more You draw me to You, the more I start experiencing the ways of the world as being of no pleasure at all especially thoughts and ideas based on profane words that are not according to Your will such as dirty jokes among others. Amen.

6. For wisdom is a kindly spirit, but will not free blasphemers from the guilt of their words: because God is witness of their inmost feelings and a true observer of their hearts, and a hearer of their tongues.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verse 6)

By our own crooked means oh God my Father we can avoid each other or give false feedback to others, or even declare that we are sorry, however in truth, we may still experience anger and bitterness and believe in what we have done as being the truth, however You my God are aware of our true feelings and intentions at all times Amen.

7. Because the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said, 8. therefore those who utter unrighteous things will not escape notice, and justice, when it punishes, will not pass them by. 9. For inquiry will be made into the counsels of the ungodly, and a report of their words will come to the Lord, to convict them of  their lawless deeds; 10. because a jealous ear hears all things, and the sound of grumbling does not go unheard. 11. Beware then of useless grumbling, and keep  your tongue from slander; because no secret word is without result, and a lying mouth destroys the soul.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verses 7 to 11)

Oh God my Father there is none like You. You are present during every moment of our lives. You are aware of everything we do both in public and in private, in the light of day and even in the bleak darkness of the light. Nothing can ever escape You my God and Father.

12. Do not invite death by the error of your life, or bring on destruction by the works of your hands; 13. because God did not make death, and he does not delight  in the death of the living. 14. For he created all things so that they might exist; the generative forces of the world are wholesome, and there is no destructive poison in them, and the dominion of Hades is not on earth.

(The Wisdom of Solomon Chapter 1 verses 12 to 14)

Oh God my Father You are God of the living and not of the dead. It is not Your pleasure when somebody dies either physically or spiritually, for death came into existence as a consequence of our sins. It was not created by You.  When You created the World it was covered with positive energy, however when we opened our hearts to evil the positive energy and the negative energy met. However the negative energy could never exist with the positive, therefore You threw Satan and his evil spirits into the darkness of hell. However it is due to our permission that Satan enters the world for his  dwelling place is not on earth but in hell Amen.

15. For righteousness is immortal. 16. But the ungodly by their words and deeds summoned death, considering him a friend, they pined away and made a covenant with him, because they are fit to belong to his company.

(Book of Wisdom Chapter 1 verses 15 to 16)

Many times oh God my Father we decide to side with evil instead of goodness and end up violating the relationship of love that we have with You and breaking the commandments that You gave us. As the saying says 'birds of \a feather flock together and therefore those of evil intentions seek the company of evildoers like themselves.

Oh God I would like to end this first chapter of the book of wisdom with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father, Your Wisdom is totally different from the wisdom of the world. It is pure and untainted. You are able to give it to mankind at any time and make the wisdom of the world appear totally foolish. You are able to make preachers out of simple fisherman whose trade was not spreading the word of God. When You sent the apostles to preach, heal, and evict evil spirits, You did not send them at a University to be grounded in theology or communication skills or even theology. You sent them as they where, however You gave them the Holy Spirit who was the perfect teacher to help them proclaim and spread the message that You wanted them to spread. I thank You for giving us this presence oh God my Father Amen.
